Vintage Excellent KNOX début 1940 Fedora Beaver Twenty gris 7 1/8 Stetson

This EXCELLENT (appears Near Pristine) 1940S Vintage KNOX Beaver Twenty Fedora, size 7-1/8. This is a REAL LOOKER! This size is a PERFECT size 7-1/8. The original size tag would have been an Oval Style Size Tag (not a long oval shape) one but Dad had this newer one in his draw was since it agrees with the Under-Tag we glued it in place. NOTE: THAT HAT BOX IS THE PICTURE HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THIS LISTING. WE ARE CURRENTLY LOOKING FOR A REPLACEMENT 1940s KNOX HAT BOX TO REPLACE IT WITH AND THIS WILL BE UPDATED SHORTLY. PLEASE WRITE IF YOU WANT THE HAT BOX? Thank you. That Beaver Twenty is just outstanding! So thick and very very soft! You just don’t find hats made like this anymore! And the Real Silk liner is just another sign of this high quality fedora! They don’t and haven’t used silk as a liner since the late 1940s. This is an Outstanding Fedora! The color of the Beaver is a medium dark gray! We don’t know why it doesn’t come out consistently but the picture of the whole underside is a best representation of the color. The others are coming out almost a gray brown color and that is not correct, see the picture of the whole underside, the fedora is all that same color. This was manufactured in the 1940s. You can see that there is NO plastic overlay on the liner. Just another tell-tale sign of a 1940s manufactured Hat! This currently has been shaped into a “Pinched Crown” with a perfect dip on the front brim. Initially Dad steamed this into a Center Dent but Because this is a Beaver Twenty allows this to easily be “hand bashed” but Dad decided to shape this with the Pinched Crown steamed into the fedora. NOTE: this was found in that KNOX Oval hat box and Dad has decided to try and keep the hat box with this hat! But if you do NOT want the hat box you’ll need to write to us. Hat Box with the hat box is There must be a cost for the hat box itself and It requires a large shipping box so it does cost a bit more than without. This hat box is well worthy of displaying and storing the hat inside. The leather straps are worn but still attached and fully functional. We are certain at one point if used all the time to buckle and unbuckle it’s going to wear more and someday it will break. Even if it does it can be fixed with a small leather patch installed. We have done that same repair to a few of Dads old hat boxes. This particular Knox Hat Box has a very interesting writing on the underside of the lid. It states that Knox uses 16th of an inch measurements. We have seen a couple of Dads hats that will state “6-14/16” and another that Stated “7-3/16”, such a very Rare Box to have! Take a minute please and read what it says. We actually measures each hat 3 times to verify its true hat size, whether it has a tag or not. We use the Tilley hat size chart. This chart is still in use today. Color: Gray Size 7-1/8 or 22-3/8 inches or 57 Length 12.4 inches Width 10.8 inches Height 4.75 inches, at the highest point, as shaped now, best measurement we could do Wide Brim width 2.1+ inches, it’s just a fraction over 2 inches Matching Grosgrain ribbon 2 inches The feather set is still in very good condition. THIS IS A BEAUTIFUL HAT! Everyone will turn heads for this hat! NOTE: this was just edited to now to add an option for a coat trolley string. A Black one will look perfect with this fedora! This is NOT sewn onto the hat but could be by any decent tailor or the end can be trimmed off and used just as an adornment. It’s pretty easily done. We also discovered that because we were NOT in possession of the box it was impossible for us to file the claim.
