Vintage original 8x10 in. US single-weight glossy photograph from the popular silent film adventure drama/romance, THE EAGLE, released in 1925 by United Artists and directed by Clarence Brown. A wanted Russian lieutenant (Rudolph Valentino) becomes a masked vigilante seeking vengeance upon the man (James A Marcus) who stole his family's land, only to fall for his charming daughter (Vilma Banky). The image features an interior medium shot inside the home of Mascha Troekouroff (Vilma Banky) as she and her tutor, Vladimir Dubrovsky (Rudolph Valentino), take a pause to gaze into each other's eyes as Valentino gently leans in towards this beautiful young woman. Printed for the film's original 1925 US theatrical release, this vintage original photograph is in fine+ condition with a light 1.25 and a 0.5 in. diagonal crease on the top left corner in the borders only; four very small creases in the lower background area near the bottom right corner; and a small area of wear on the bottom border beneath the previously-mentioned creases. The image quality is razor-sharp with fine detail and beautiful contrast. In 2002, we acquired a private collection of approximately 1,500 photographs on Rudolph Valentino and this photograph comes from that collection.
