Purchased at Nagoya Midland over 5 years ago (now relocated).

Since it is made of soft leather, it is already soft to the touch.
Because it has been used frequently, the handle is crumbled and there is some ballpoint pen stains inside as can be seen in the photo, but there are no visible scratches on the outside, so to the untrained eye it looks clean.
