About the Brand:
Valentino Garavani is one of Italy's greatest couturier and most respected designers. Born in Voghera, south of Milan, in 1932, Valentino traveled to Paris at just 17 and following his studies at the Chambre Syndicale de la Mode, became apprentice to Jean Desses and Guy Laroche. In 1959 he returned to Italy to establish his own atelier in Rome and in 1963, launched his first full collection to universal acclaim in Florence, Italy. By the mid-1960s, he was already considered the undisputed maestro of Italian Couture, receiving the 1967 Neiman Marcus Fashion Award and Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Begum Aga Khan, Queen Paola of Belgium and Princess Margaret were already customers as well as personal friends. Valentino was also chosen by Jackie Kennedy to design the dress for her wedding to Aristotle Onassis in 1968. Over the years, Valentino has dressed the most privileged women of the day and has been honored by the governments of Italy, where he was awarded the Cavaliere di Gran Croce (1986) and France, which acknowledged him as a Chevalier de la Legion d'Honneur (2005).
