Opal
New with tag. This is a beautiful ring in size 7.5 created by Indonesian artisans. The stone is a genuine opal from the Welo region of Ethiopia, and the setting is genuine sterling silver, stamped 925.
Ethiopian opals have a higher water content than Australian opals. This helps to give them the "jelly" clear-to-color affect that is so fascinating in Ethiopian opals.
The opal in this ring dances with flashes of greens, blues and pinks. The photos in this listing were taken in regular sunlight coming through my living room window. No artificial light was used. The oval cabochon cut stone is 7X5mm and weighs 0.5cts. The opal is bezel set, and the sterling silver setting forms a butterfly whose wings are decorated with sterling silver swirls. This ring also has an under gallery created with swirls of sterling silver, and the ring weighs 6.4 grams. This is a stunning opal ring and the butterfly measures 1 and 1/4 inches wide.
